This is a year-long, introductory-level theatre class in which students will learn many aspects of the theatre world. The topics we will be exploring in the classroom will be engaging and hands on, therefore participation is a must. We will create a classroom ensemble that will share in creation, decision making, interactive discussion, and problem solving. Our goal is to ultimately lead to the development of a life-long passion and appreciation of Theatre Arts.
We cover units such as: Ensemble Building, Introduction to Theatre, Pantomime, Improv, Voice, Storytelling, Playwriting, Auditions, Scene Work, and Technical Theatre/Design.
This is a year-long, intermediate-level theatre class in which students will expand their current knowledge of the theatre world and add new techniques and ideas. There are two class options for 7th grade students: Show Based Class and Unit Based Class. Both classes require creative, hardworking, focused, and dedicated students.
Unit Based Class: The students cover units in theatre performance, technique, theatre history, design, and technical theatre. This is a great choice for students who enjoy theatre, but do not necessarily want to perform.
Show Based Class: The students work towards creating a showcase of monologues and scenes for a one night only performance. As well as, creating resumes, taking headshots, and working on individual units such as: design, script writing, acting, and improv.
This is a year-long, advanced-level theatre class in which students will expand their current knowledge of the theatre world and add new techniques and ideas. There are two class options for 8th grade students: Musical Theatre and Technical Theatre/Unit Based. Both classes require creative, hardworking, focused, and dedicated students.
Musical Theatre: We produce an in-class musical review complete with songs and choreography for a one night only performance in the fall. The spring semester we focus on student-directed unit projects and perform a cabaret-style showcase.
Technical Theatre/Unit Based: The students cover units in theatre performance, design, and technical theatre production. Students also have the opportunity to apply as the tech crew for theatre productions.
